Research and Teaching Interests

John Robertson has published articles most recently on moral realism and practical reason, in particular the implications for moral realism of the thesis that practical reasons must be motivating reasons; on ethical naturalism and the "naturalistic fallacy"; and on moral dilemmas. He also works on the metaphysics and ethics of Plato and Aristotle, with particular emphasis on the contributions these authors can make to contemporary discussions of metaphysical and moral questions.
